What experience do you have?
I have been working in the financial industry for over 10 years and you can read more about me here.
Are you a fiduciary 100% of the time?
As a CFP® professional I am a fiduciary and I act in the best interests of the client, which means I put your interest above my own. The CFP Board Code of Ethics and Standards and Conduct are considered the most rigorous and highest ethical and fiduciary standards in the industry.
Who do you specialize in working with and how many clients do you have at a time?
I work alongside technology and engineering professionals or leaders to guide them in making and implementing smart choices about their money to save $100,000’s.
My approach in best serving my clients is to develop a financial plan. It does not matter what your asset levels are, I create a plan tailored to your needs, goals, and objectives.
We identify what is important to you, what your vision for your future is, and then we implement strategies to help you achieve your goals.
My existing clients are a high priority, so I am selective in who I invite to join our client community so that I can serve you as well as my existing clients.
Do you have a minimum portfolio size?
On Tactive, we just ask that you start with $500 to open an account. However, like many other financial advisors, we have a minimum we need to provide the level of services that I’ve outlined above.
The minimum investment to qualify to work with another advisor on Tactive is $50,000.
To work with me personally as your Wealth Strategist, my minimum account or portfolio size is $500,000 and the commitment to engage in financial planning services.
What is your investment philosophy and how do you manage investments?
I think you will find the results of our process gratifying, and you will find us more active in our management of your money, portfolio, and market risk.
We utilize Tactical Strategists of active money management that use low-cost, low-commission trading practices. Our process is fact-based, disciplined, mathematical, and rules-driven decision-making in developing a healthy non-emotional relationship between risk and reward.
We believe that competitive long-term returns are more about avoiding major drawdowns than investing aggressively. We look for strategies that reduce exposure to market downside and capture more of the market upside.
It’s less about what you own in your portfolio, and much more about the process and strategy that determines when you pursue opportunities and when you avoid unnecessary risk.
What does your planning process look like?
We start with a complimentary Financial Fitness Strategy session. This is where you will gain a better picture of your financial fitness and if we are a fit for what you are looking for. We will introduce you to our Asset Map approach and if we think we can add value to what you are already doing. Then you can make a decision with confidence if you would like for us to create your Asset Map.
If you want us to create your plan then I have a 3-step process to create your Asset Map plan. I also work virtually and by video conference calls with most of my clients.
STEP 1: EXPLORATION SESSION. During your Financial Exploration Session, we will explore more about your current situation and tighten up the numbers on your Asset Map to give you clarity from an executive level. The Asset Map is yours, and it helps us understand you, where you are at, where you want to get to, and what are the gaps in your plan.
STEP 2: PRESENTATION. We look at your preliminary plan and discuss the risks to your plan, conceptual solutions, and your options for addressing the gaps in your plan. This is the meeting where we decide if we should work together in implementing specific solutions to help you achieve your goals.
STEP 3: IMPLEMENTATION AND PROGRESS. We work together to begin implementing your step-by-step plan of action telling you exactly what you need to do so you can make smart choices about your money, get measurable results, and then we monitor your on-going progress. The benefit is your having a 10-level of confidence that no matter what happens in the markets, economy, or world you can stay on track to achieve your goals.
How often do you meet with your clients?
That depends on the client. Some clients like to meet a little more frequently and others like to meet less.
Typically, when someone starts with us, we spend the first few months creating a financial plan and developing your portfolio to make sure all the right pieces of the puzzle fit together.
Then we do a 6-month progress check, and then after that, we have at least an annual progress review to stay current on your financial situation, identify missing financial instruments, and revisit un-addressed financial goals/priorities.
I have some investments I want to manage on my own. Can I still work with you?
Of course, we have that happen all the time. In fact, if you want to manage some of your own funds, I encourage you to have a separate account to invest on your own.
What is my total cost to work with you, how are you compensated, and where can I see this in writing?
It is a little premature to tell you exactly what your total cost would be because I don’t yet know what you need, or if we can help you.
I can tell you that I work from a regressive fee scale from 1.50% to 0.30% depending on the complexity and the level of assets we are working with together. You can find this on my firm’s Form ADV which I give to clients upon engaging to work together as well as our Client Advisory Agreement.
You will know all the costs and how I am compensated before we implement any solutions.
Where do you keep my money and how can I see it?
Your money is kept with and held by well-established and independent custodians. I do not personally keep or hold any client’s money or have access to it.
Do you take custody of or have access to my assets?
We do not take custody of any assets.
Your assets are held by independent custodians, and the account is in your name. Only you have access to your assets, and Strategy Marketplace will only draft agreed-upon fees from your account.
Are my assets pooled with other investor funds?
No, your account is your account. However, from a firm perspective, we trade in blocks which helps give us a better price as a firm and then we allocate those prices according to each of our client’s portfolios.
Can I get money out of my account quickly in case of an emergency?
Yes, you can also link your bank account directly with your investment account at Strategy Marketplace. If you have any issues at all you can contact our client support team and they would be happy to assist you.
Do you contact me before you make trades in my accounts?
Since we are using an automated trading system and advanced technologies, trades can happen frequently, so we do not contact our clients before we make trades.
Remember, you hired us to do this job for you using our expertise and trading strategies, so you can focus on those things that only you can do for you. You are giving us full authority and discretion to trade on your behalf per our strategies.
Is my account guaranteed?
Unfortunately, in the investing world, nothing can be guaranteed from a market loss.
Your brokerage account is SIPC (Securities Investor Protection Corporation) protected, and many banking and insurance solutions have FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) or state insurance protections in place.
How often will I receive statements on my account?
Inside your client portal, you will receive monthly statements that you can download at any time.
How do I pay you for your services?
We can draft your payment directly from your account(s), which we bill on a monthly basis. That way you never have to write us a check or send us a payment, it’s all done automatically.
